THE CSO-M

The European Civil Society Observatory on Methane

The European Civil Society Observatory on Methane (CSO-M) is an independent platform designed to empower civil society to drive down methane emissions from fossil fuels. By integrating science, policy and economics, it strengthens the role of NGOs in pushing for accountability amongst governments and industry.

The CSO-M and the Time for CH4nge campaign are distinct yet deeply interlinked efforts. While the campaign is designed to raise public awareness, the observatory focuses on building a network of civil society organisations active in reducing methane emissions.

The two initiatives complement each other: the campaign fosters public awareness so that the actions of Observatory members can take root effectively. They ultimately work together to address the methane crisis through both data-driven and action-oriented approaches.
